Toronto Blue Jays / Hyun-Jun Ryu (+140) at New York Yankees / Gerrit Cole (-175)

The Bluejays made the post-season in 2020 and are a team on the rise. With a couple of shrewd offseason additions, they project to be the main threat to New York in the ALE. The Yankees are coming into the season with a pretty much unchanged roster since last year. This will be a duel of two explosive offenses with a slight advantage on the Yankees’ side.

Cleveland Indians / Shane Bieber (-155) at Detroit Tigers / Matthew Boyd (+130)

With AL Cy Young Award winner Shane Bieber on the mound, Cleveland is a strong favorite against the underwhelming Detroit side. Bieberscorched the Tigers last year and we’ll likely see it again.

Baltimore Orioles / Kenta Maeda (+160) at Boston Red Sox / Brandon Woodruff (-200)

The Red Sox may not be a playoff contender this year but are clearly superior to the Orioles. Baltimore comes to the season with one of the weakest rosters in the league. More reliable offense and better pitching should swing this one in Boston’s favor.

Minnesota Twins / Kenta Maeda (-150) at Milwaukee Brewers / Brandon Woodruff (+120)

This is a matchup between two 2020 playoff teams expected to yet again find themselves in the postseason. The excellent Brewers’ pitching staff is anchored by Brandon Woodruff. The Twins chose to start experienced Kenta Maeda over Jose Berrios.

Pittsburgh Pirates / Chad Kuhl (+180) at Chicago Cubs / Kyle Hendricks (-225)

Chicago Cubs are huge Opening Day favorites against one of the poorest sides in MLB. There’s not much to like in this Pittsburgh roster except for the young star Ke’Bryan Hayes. Kyle Hendricks should have a field day against the punchless Pirates lineup.

Atlanta Braves /Max Fried (-115) at Philadelphia Phillies / Aaron Nola (-115)

The National League East should bring us a ton of close matchups this year and this is the first one. The Braves are the reigning division champions. On the other hand, the Phillies are expected to improve this season led by reliable Aaron Nola.

Los Angeles Dodgers / Clayton Kershaw (-300) at Colorado Rockies / Germán Márquez (+230)

The Dodgers are listed as the biggest favorites on the Opening Day. Everything except a convincing win will be a huge surprise. The Rockies aren’t the same team after trading Nolan Arenado, but will still be a tricky home matchup for most teams in the league. The loaded Dodgers are just too good at the moment.

Arizona Diamondbacks / Madison Bumgarner (+180) at San Diego Padres / Yu Darvish (-225)

The Padres had an excellent offseason and Yu Darvish is set to make his debut on Thursday. Besides, they extended Fernando Tatis Jr. and added Blake Snell. San Diego should start the new season with a bang.

Louis Cardinals / Jack Flaherty (-175) at Cincinnati Reds / Luis Castillo (+140)

One of the most exciting pitching matchups brings us a duel of explosive right-handers in Jack Flaherty and Luis Castillo. The Cardinals are one of the offseason winners adding Nolan Arenado. The Reds lost Trevor Bauer and weren’t much active otherwise.

2021 MLB Opening Day Betting Odds Picks & Predictions

Texas Rangers /Kyle Gibson (+100) at Kansas City Royals / Brad Keller (-120)

This is the one matchups that no one is getting excited about. Both the Rangers and the Royals are not anywhere near to competing for the playoffs. It’s also the worst pitching matchup of the day. Kyle Gibson and Brad Keller both can be useful but are far from being serious threats.

Tampa Bay Rays /Tyler Glasnow (-175) at Miami Marlins / Sandy Alcantara (+140)

Two Florida teams could easily provide one of the more fun games on Thursday. Tyler Glasnow should start the season in style, while reliable Sandy Alcantara should prove to be a worthy matchup.

New York Mets / Jacob deGrom (-120) at Washington Nationals / Max Scherzer (-110)

The Mets fans have high hopes for this year. Certainly, nothing would make them feel better than getting off to a hot start. The game also features probably the best pitching matchup of the day.

Chicago White Sox / Lucas Giolito (-135) at Los Angeles Angels / Dylan Bundy (+110)

The White Sox received a lot of action on the futures market and will look to further improve on the last season’s success. We’ll have a clearer picture after the first game as they go against the best player in the league and the loaded Angels.

Houston Astros / Zack Greinke (+100) at Oakland Athletics Chris Bassitt (-120)

Last year’s games between the two teams provided a couple of heated matchups. This could easily be the start of the new MLB rivalry. Houston’s loaded offense will go against Chris Bassitt. Zack Greinke will get on the mound for Oakland.

San Francisco Giants / Kevin Gausman (-115) at Seattle Mariners / Marco Gonzales (-115)

The last game of the game is a toss-up. Both teams feature some talent, but it’s hard to see them making a lot of noise this season.
