Game 2 Los Angeles Clippers vs Phoenix Suns Betting Odds, Lines Picks & Predictions

The Suns will look to go two games up when they host the Clippers in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals on Tuesday night. Phoenix took advantage of 6-day rest after they swept Denver in the previous round and won Game 1 120-114. They’re now on an amazing 8-game winning streak in this playoffs. With Sunday’s win, they’re now 55-31 SU and 47-37-2 ATS over the whole season. The Clippers came to the matchup after grueling 6-game series against Utah. Still, they managed to hang with the Suns for most of the game but didn’t have enough in them to seal the win. They will now look to avoid going 2-0 down for the third straight time in this postseason. This will be the fifth contest between the two teams this season. They split their matchups so far, with each team winning twice.

Line Movement

The Suns are again entering the game as decisive favorites. The line is set at -6, the exact victory margin in Game 1. The total is set at 224 at the moment.

Notes on Los Angeles Clippers

It seems that this year the Clippers only start playing when they’re 2-0 down. However, they were more than decent on Sunday, even though the fatigue was obvious at times. They kept the game close and even managed to come back after trailing by 10 in the 4th quarter. Still, they eventually ran out of gas as the Suns upped their defense in the final minutes. Paul George and Reggie Jackson continue to be the main guys in Kahwi Leonard’s absence. George had another fantastic performance, scoring 34 points, while Jackson added 24 of his own. They didn’t have a lot of super though, with Cousins the only other players scoring in double digits with 11. Terance Mann failed to replicate the fantastic outing he had in the last game, scoring only 9 points on just 4 shots. As expected, the main issues for the Clips were inside the paint. They were outrebounded and filed to protect the rim throughout the game. The Suns outscored them in the paint 54-34.

Kawhi Leonard and Serge Ibaka remain out. While Ibaka is out for the season, the Clippers hope to have Kahwi back for Game 3.

Notes on Phoenix Suns

Even without Chris Paul, the Suns continue to play as true contenders and look like the best-coached side in the playoffs. The credit goes to Monty Williams who made several in-game adjustments to answer everything the Clippers threw at them. Many expected them to struggle without Paul, but Devin Booker stepped up big time. The young guard continues to excel in his first career playoffs. On Sunday, he became only the third player in history to have a 40-point triple-double at 24 or younger. He showed that he’s not only an excellent shooter but a versatile and complete player. Booker dominated the mid-range and assumed most of the playmaking duties in Paul’s absence. The Suns didn’t do much wrong on Sunday but will have to improve defending the 3-point line. They’ve allowed the Clippers to shoot 20-47 from the deep on Sunday,

Chris Paul remains in Covid-19 protocol but is symptom-free. The Suns hope that he’ll be cleared to play soon. At the moment, Paul is listed as a game time decision.

Betting Pick: The Clippers +6

The Clippers have shown their ability to adjust repeatedly in this postseason. They were close in Game 1 and another day of rest will do them good. The Suns are still favorites, but the spread seems a bit too big.
