MLB Weekly Roundup- April 2

St Louis Cardinals Vs. Los Angeles Dodgers – 2013 ALCS Game 4
The new MLB season is just a couple of days old and all 30 teams now have a game or two under their belt. The Los Angeles Dodgers have actually played four games and with a 3-1 start they have got an early jump towards what many believe will be a run to a World Series title. BetAnySports has them currently listed as +290 favorites to win the National League Pennant and as +550 second favorites to win it all this year.

Futures Odds List

The team at the top of that futures odds list is the Detroit Tigers at +490 to win a world title. The Tigers opened their season this past Monday with a 4-3 victory over Kansas City as 149 home favorites on BetAnySports’ closing moneyline. They will be back in action against the Royals this Wednesday afternoon as 186 favorites with last season’s AL Cy Young winner, Max Scherzer on the mound going against left-hander Jason Vargas.

The most hotly contested division this year is expected to be the AL East. Before the regular season started defending World Series Champion Boston and Tampa Bay were in a dead heat at +220 come out on top with New York listed as a close +240 third favorite. The Red Sox opened defense of their title with a 2-1 loss to Baltimore as slight 115 road favorites. The Rays have split a pair of games with Toronto and the Yankees’ new season started off with Tuesday’s 6-2 loss to Houston as 144 road favorites on BetAnySports’ closing line.
Philadelphia and Texas staged the first inter-league matchup of the season with the Phillies winning the opener 14-10 in a wild slugfest. In a much more subdued day at the plate, the Rangers evened things up with Tuesday’s 3-2 win as 136 home favorites.

Some of the better weekend series on tap features a classic NL East showdown between Atlanta and Washington starting this Friday. Look for David Hale to take the mound for the Braves in the opener with Tanner Roark expected to get the start for the Nationals. San Francisco will renew its ongoing rivalry with Los Angeles on Friday in the first of a three-game weekend set and in the NL Central St. Louis will be on the road against Pittsburgh in the first of three games of that heated divisional clash. Be sure to check BetAnySports for the betting odds for all of these games.
