NBA Playoff Betting: Philadelphia 76ers Lay 7 Points On The Atlanta Hawks For Game 7

It’s win-or-go-home for Philadelphia and Atlanta as the two teams meet in Game 7 on Sunday night. The 76ers blew huge leads in two consecutive games before winning in Atlanta on Friday to force Game 7. So far in the series, they managed to win at home only once. It’s not something we’re used to from them, as they lost only 7 times in Philadelphia in the regular season. Overall this year, they’re 56-27 SU and 44-35-4 ATS. The Hawks entered the series as the underdogs, but have shown to be a tough nut to crack. Now, they have to beat Philly on the road for the third time to keep their season alive. In this campaign, Atlanta is 48-35 straight up. Their ATS record stands at 46-36-1. Including playoff games, the two teams have met 9 times this year. The 76er have been a bit more successful, winning 5 times.

Line Movement

The initial betting odds favored the 76ers by -6.5. Since the release, the line has moved slightly to -7 where it stands now. The total opened at 217.5 but after most of the early money backed the UNDER, it dropped to 216.

Notes on Atlanta Hawks

After coming back from -26 in Game 5 and leading at the half on Friday, the Hawks probably felt pretty good about their chances of sealing the series. However, they’ve allowed the 76ers to go on a scoring run in the 3rd quarter and never recovered. Trae Young was fantastic once again. Atlanta’s point guard scored 34 and added 12 assists. He was followed by Huerter with 17 and Gallinari who scored 16 points on the bench. However, the second and third options, Bogdanovic and Collins both had a bad night. Each scored only 7 points. The Serbian even got injured in the second half. The Hawks will need both of them to contribute more to stand a chance against Philly’s elite defense. Bogdanovic particularly seems to be in a slump. After averaging 19 in the first four games, he only has 13 points combined in games 5 and 6.

Hunter and Reddish remain out for the Hawks. Bogdanovic is listed as questionable but is expected to play.

Notes on Philadelphia 76ers

Joel Embiid’s health status remains the key for the Sixers. The big man is playing through a knee injury since Game 1. Nevertheless, he managed to produce some great performances but has struggled in Game 6. He did have a decent stat line with 22 points and 13 rebounds. However, he did so shooting only 37.5 from the field. Luckily for Philly, several other players stepped up. Harris scored 24, including 12 points in the 2nd quarter to keep the Sixers alive in the first half. Seth Curry was deadly from the deep, shooting 6-9 and finishing the game with 24 points. Tyrese Maxey provided some punch from the bench with 16 points of his own. Still, to win in crucial Game 7, the 76ers will need Embiid at his best on both ends of the court.

Embiid is listed as questionable, but there’s no way he’s missing Game 7. Danny Green remains out.

Betting Pick: Atlanta +7

Only two games so far in the series have handed with a winning margin of over 7. Plus, the last three games were decided by no more than 5 points. In Game 7 we should expect more of the same. The Hawks won’t go down easy and we’re up for a tight and nervy game.
