MLB Betting - Weekly Roundup - Sept. 17

As the MLB Betting regular season continues to wind down over the next two weeks, a few teams have finally clinched a spot in the postseason. However, the final field for this year’s quest to win the World Series is far from filled.

The Beltway is bouncing these days with baseball fans as both the Baltimore Orioles and the Washington Nationals are headed to the playoffs after their magic number to clinch their division fell to zero with Tuesday night’s wins. The Orioles secured the AL East title with an 8-2 victory over Toronto as slight -102 home underdogs on GTBETS closing MLB betting odds. They are now 91-60 with 11 games left to play.

The Nationals became NL East champs this season with a 3-0 shutout of Atlanta on Tuesday as -125 road favorites on 5Dimes’ closing betting line. They improved to 87-63 with 12 games left on the slate.

The Los Angeles Angels have already clinched a playoff berth with the best record in the league at 94-57 and claiming the AL West title is just a formality with a 10.5-game lead over Oakland through Tuesday’s games. The Angels have been the hottest team in the Majors down the stretch and they are 8-2 in their last 10 games.

The battle rages on in the other three divisions as well as the Wild Card race in both the American and National League. Detroit (84-67) is a game and a half ahead of Kansas City (82-68) in the AL Central and picking-up steam with a 7-3 mark in its last 10 games verse a 4-6 record for the Royals. Kansas City is currently holding down one of the two Wild Card spots in the AL along with Oakland.

Seattle is a game back followed by Toronto and Cleveland which are each five games off the pace. St. Louis (83-68) has a 2.5-game edge over Pittsburgh (80-70) in the NL Central with Milwaukee (79-72) still alive at four games back heading into Wednesday’s action. The Brewers beat the Cardinals 3-2 on Tuesday as +144 road underdogs and GTBETS MLB Sportsbook has listed them as +142 underdogs for Wednesday’s Game 2 of this three-game set.
