MLB Betting - Los Angeles Dodgers 2014 - Weekly Roundup - Sept. 10

The MLB playoff betting picture is starting to take shape for this year’s quest for a World Series title, but there are plenty of pieces left to complete this puzzle. TopBet still has a double dose of Los Angeles at the top of its futures board to win it all with the Dodgers listed as +350 favorites followed by the Angels at +450.

The Dodgers’ lead in the NL West is down to just 2.5 games over San Francisco despite winning four of their last five games. They are now 82-63 on the year and the total has gone OVER in five of their last six games behind some very active bats. The Giants have won seven of 10 through Tuesday night’s games to improve to 79-65. Their current betting odds to win it all this year stand at +2000. Los Angeles’ odds to win the NL Pennant are +175, while San Francisco’s are +900.

The Angels continue to set the pace in the American League with a six-game winning streak heading into Wednesday’s action. They have comfortable eight-game lead in the AL West over Oakland with a MLB-best record of 89-55. The Angels have been hitting the ball all over the park during this recent tear, taking the total OVER in their last five games. Los Angeles offers some tremendous value at +350 odds to win the AL Pennant given the way it has been playing down the stretch.

The Washington Nationals and the Baltimore Orioles are both listed as +550 third-favorites to win this year’s World Series. The Nationals (82-61) have taken complete control of the NL East with a nine-game lead over Atlanta. Their odds to win the NL Pennant are listed at +200, which are the second-best on the board. Washington has won its last three games including back-to-back victories over the Braves as solid home favorites on TopBet’s closing MLB betting odds.

The Orioles are sitting on a 10-game lead over Toronto in the AL East with a 7-3 mark in their last 10 games that has them 85-59 on the year through Tuesday’s games. Baltimore is also riding a three-game winning streak with two victories over Boston in the first two games of a three-game set. The Orioles’ odds to win the AL this year are +350.

TopBet MLB Sportsbooks World Series futures odds for a few other top contenders include Oakland at +800, Detroit at +1000 and Seattle, St. Louis and Milwaukee all at +1200. Top
