Atlanta Braves vs New York Yankees Betting Picks, Odds, Lines & Predictions

The Yankees will try to snap their 5-game winless streak as they head into an interleague MLB Betting matchup with the Braves. They’re having a disappointing start to the season and are now at the bottom of the AL. The New York team is currently at 5-10 and is 5 games behind Boston who leads the division. The Braves haven’t been much better either. They’ve won only 7 of 16 games, good enough for fourth place in the National League East. However, they’ll be encouraged by two wins in three road games against the Cubs, including the 13-4 rout on Sunday.

Atlanta Braves vs New York Yankees Betting Odds & Line Movement

The Yankees are home favorites for this one with moneyline MLB Betting odds at -115. The Braves are priced at +110 at most books. The total is set at 9.

Notes On The Atlanta Braves

It’s been an up-and-down season for the Braves so far. They’ve opened the campaign with four straight losses and won the next four before losing four consecutive times again. Before going to New York, they won the road series in Chicago. In their last game on Sunday, they dominated the Cubs 13-4, scoring 6 runs at the top of the first inning and nailing four home runs. However, the game left a bitter taste for the Braves, as their star outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. was forced to leave the game due to an abdominal injury. Acuna Jr. has been one of their best hitters this season and was already mentioned in the MVP conversation. This campaign, he’s hitting .419 with seven home runs. If he remains unavailable, Ozuna, Freeman, and Swanson will need to step up. However, the main issue for the Braves has been their pitching. If they’re to be serious contenders in the NL East the pitching will have to improve.

On Tuesday, they’ll start Charlie Morton (4.76 ERA) at the mound. With Morton starting, Atlanta won once in three games. However, as a former member of the Rays, Morton is 3-0 in his starts against the Yankees in 2020.

Notes On The New York Yankees

The Yankees have entered the season as AL favorites, but the things haven’t gone their way so far. They got swept by Tampa last weekend and have now lost 5 straight. In their series against the Rays, they managed to score only seven runs combined. The Yankees haven’t had more than 5 runs in a game in the last 7 outings. They’re now 25th in the scoring with under 4 runs per game. Before the season, many doubted their pitching, but it’s the hitting they’ve struggled with. The team batting average is at .210 right now. With all the talent on their roster, including Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton, we can expect them to turn this around at some point.

Against the Braves, the Yankees will start the right-handed pitcher Jameson Taillon (7.56 ERA). After four seasons with Pittsburgh, Taillon is having a rough start in New York. He’s still without a win in two starts. The last time he started against Atlanta, in Pirates uniform in 2018, Taillon won 3-2 as a road dog.

Atlanta Braves vs New York Yankees Betting Pick & Prediction: OVER 9

Last season, the Braves were the second in the MLB Betting league in scoring. This year they’re slowly getting there, too. They’ve gone OVER in 5 out of the last 6 games. If Acuna Jr. sits, they’ll be a bit less explosive, but they still have enough firepower. On the other hand, the Yankees should finally improve their hitting, and this could be a perfect series for that.
