MLB Betting Roundup - August 20
Both Baltimore and Washington are starting to run away in their division title race with a late season surge, but the race in the four other MLB divisions remain as tight as ever. The regular season has reached the quarter pole to what should be a thrilling finish to determine which 10 teams will battle it out in this year’s MLB playoffs.

The Orioles have taken control of the AL East with a 7-3 run in their last 10 games. They now lead New York (63-60) by 8.5 games and Toronto (64-62) by nine with the second best record in the American League at 72-52. The Yankees are four games back in the wildcard race with the Blue Jays 4.5 games off the pace for one of the two playoff spots.

Kansas City continues to hold a two-game lead over Detroit in the AL Central. The Royals improved to 70-55 with a 7-4 road victory over Colorado on Tuesday night as 141 favorites on VietBet’s closing MLB betting odds. They are now 6-1 in their last seven games. The Tigers (67-56) are still holding onto the lead in the AL wildcard race.

The two-team battle for the AL West title has swung in Los Angeles’ favor by a half game with a 7-3 mark in its last 10 games against a 3-7 record for second-place Oakland. The Angels improved to 74-50 after Tuesday night’s 4-3 victory over Boston as 127 road favorites. The Athletics (74-51) hammered out a much needed 6-2 win over the Mets on Tuesday as heavy 240 favorites to remain tied with Detroit for the lead in the wildcard race.

The Nationals ran their current winning streak to eight games with Tuesday’s 8-1 pounding of Arizona as prohibitive 240 home favorites. They now lead Atlanta by six games in the NL East with an overall record of 71-53. The Braves (66-60) have won their last five games to move into a tie with St. Louis (68-57) and San Francisco (65-59) for the two wildcard playoff spots in the National League. Milwaukee has set the pace in the NL Central all season long and with its current five-game winning streak it has opened-up a 2.5-game lead over the Cardinals in the division race. The Brewers are now 71-55 on the year.

The Dodgers remain VietBet’s favorite to win the NL Pennant at +200 betting odds, but they have hardly looked the part with just two victories in their last six games. Los Angeles still has a solid 4.5-game lead over the Giants in the NL West with an overall record of 71-56.
