Baseball Betting at BetAnySports — Dodgers and Braves Tangle with Struggling Pitchers

The Los Angeles Dodgers may not be in absolute command in the National League West, but they are in pretty good shape. The Atlanta Braves, on the other hand, have been sliding, and they need to put some wins together. These teams will meet up on Tuesday night at Turner Field in Atlanta, as baseball betting action gets underway at 7:10 PM ET.

The Dodgers are 68-52, five games ahead of the San Francisco Giants in the NL West, and while they haven’t exactly been a dominant team at home, they have done just fine on the road, with a 38-25 mark. The Braves are four games behind the Washington Nationals in the AL East, and are currently 2.5 games behind in the wild card race.

Dan Haren, who has struggled (9-9, 4.57 ERA), is the starting pitcher for the Dodgers, while Mike Minor (4-7, 5.42 ERA) takes his turn in the rotation for the Braves. The Dodgers won the series opener by a 6-2 score on Monday, as right-hander Kevin Correia, who has just been acquired from Minnesota, picked up the win over Atlanta’s All-Star pitcher, Julio Teheran.

In the baseball betting odds that have been established on this game by the folks at BetAnySports, the Braves are the favorites:

Dan Haren Baseball Betting at BetAnySports -- Dodgers and Braves Tangle with Struggling Pitchers

Atlanta Braves (Minor – L) -119
Los Angeles Dodgers (Haren – R) +109

Under 8 Runs -115
Over 8 Runs -105

Atlanta has lost ten games out of twelve, and while that has not necessarily taken them out of contention in the NL East, it has greatly hurt their ability to gain any ground on the Nationals, and that is not something that was expected by many. Offensive has been a problem, as the Braves have scored more than three runs only once in the last eleven games.

Haren had been pounded by the Pirates and Cubs in consecutive starts, and likes to think that to some degree, he came out of a major funk with 7-1/3 strong innings against the Los Angeles Angels six days ago, where he allowed just a single run and led a Dodger victory. That was his first win in over five weeks. Baseball bettors, however, have noticed that Haren has been poisonous on the road, as he has compiled a 4.99 ERA. The Dodgers are 6-7 with him when they are the visitors.

BetAnySports customers know that Minor, a southpaw, has not pitched with any effectiveness at all lately. Over his last four starts, Minor has surrendered twenty earned runs and 38 hits in 20-1/3 innings. When will the patience run out? Of course, the Braves have a guy who can shut the door, if they can get that far, in Craig Kimbrel. But Minor has to keep the ball in play; he has thus far allowed 18 home runs in less than 100 innings.

Minor certainly hopes to have the same kind of success he had against the Boys in Blue last year, when he allowed just four runs in 18-1/.3 innings and NO homers. The Dodgers have hit just .241 against southpaw starters, but they have a 19-10 record against them. Written by Charles Jay on Google Plus.
